Habitat
Aequorea victoria are found off the west coast of the United States and Canada. They inhabit from central California up to Vancouver with the largest concentration residing around Washington and British Columbia. (Crystal Jelly 2013) As you can see on the map to the left A. victoria inhabit the west coast of the U.S and Canada. The yellow dot represents where the jellyfish are located in the greatest concentration. It is at this yellow dot that British columbia is located.
Aequorea victoria live in the Pelagic zone of the ocean, which means they live near the shore. (Crystal Jelly 2013)
A study performed in 1990 was done to test the oxygen consumption of the Aequorea victoria when they are hungry verses when they are not hungry. The specimens for this experiment were obtained from either Departure Bay or Lady-smith Harbour in British Columbia. (Arai 1986).
The Crystal Jellyfish has a few predators. The most common of these predators would be the Lions Mane Jelly (Cyanea capillata). Other predators include; Ctenophores, siphonophora and other Jellyfish including cannibalism in some cases. (Crystal Jelly 2013)
